Globally there are billions of people who still cook over open fires or traditional cookstoves that burn biomass fuels (charcoal, kerosene, wood) and are highly inefficient, leading to harmful exposure to smoke within the home. This disproportionally affects the lives of women and children who do the majority of household jobs such as cooking and collecting fuels.
